Musical effects
Bob Marley was an influence as both a person, and a musician. He himself was a very opinioned, religous, and strong man. His music was extremely influential in not only melody and beat and the music itself, but also the lyrics and the expression of his voice as he sang them and the look on his face while singing the lyrics. Its as though he's telling a story that he's experienced and he is putting you in that state of mind thats very relaxed but yet it angers you at the same time just because of the powerful lyrical content. The religion that he followed was called Rastafarianism. This was practically an anti-white , anti-brown religion that was based on the thought that all blacks are superior to everyone and everything else. They believed that someday blacks would rise up and "rule the world" But the part that confuses alot of people is that Bob Marley and his Rastafari followers were all supposedly peace loving humans that wanted nothing more than for people to get along yet their religion tought superiority and cruelness.
Effects on the world
Bob Marley and the Wailers were much more than just a rock phenomenon. Their music began to concern itself with social issues on the island of Jamaica. No one in Jamaica was prepared for the impact the music of Marley and company would eventually have worldwide. One night when Bob was playing a concert some police started tossing tear gas into the crowd and beating people. Marley was escorted off the stage to safety. He later came back on the stage and started performing again but without the same strong vibe and message as before. Marley insisted for years, that he was born in Africa and that his parents were as well. He traveled to Africa because he thought it would be alot more peaceful and better than Jamaica, but instead it was the same slums and hungry faces that he'd left behind.
He went to war-torn Ethiopia from Kenya to discover that the man he worshipped as god, Haile Selassie, had died in disgrace and been burried in an unmarked grave.

Music
Bob marley's influence on jamaica was definately to the extreme and had many different branches of influence in it. The biggest part of life in Jamaica that he influenced was music and religion. Bob Marley was born on February 6th 1945 in Nine miles, St. Ann, Jamaica. His mother was an 18 year old black girl named Cedella Booker. His father was a Man named Captain Norval Marley, a 50 year old quarter master. Bob barely knew his father. Norval would visit every once in a while but not enough to witness his son's success as an artist. In 1962 Bob auditioned for a local talent show. A record label representative heard his voice and loved it so he had Bob come in and record an album. The following year, Bob decided that the best way to continue his career was to be in a group. He hooked up with Bunny and Peter to form "The Wailing Wailers"
